Ticks
Control of ticks is complicated by their capacity for living for long periods of time off their hosts. Ticks are not very species-specific, so dogs may become infested with ticks that are more commonly found on other livestock. The New Zealand cattle tick is a three host tick and FRONTLINE® is an effective treatment.
Mites
Both sarcoptic and demodectic mange are most commonly treated with AMITRAZ or ivermectin. FRONTLINE has activity against sarcoptic mites.
Fleas
Lice
Lice are treated with benzene hexachloride, pyrethrum powder, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or organophosphate. The organophospates have less residual action than the chlorinated hydrocarbons. Treatments with chlorinated hydrocarbons can therefore be less frequent. FRONTLINE kills lice.
